Herewith please find main information about Kaliningrad seaway canal/port as following

(in accordance with the by-laws of the Kaliningrad port authorities):

 

Main restrictions:
max. LOA: 170.00 m.
max. BEAM: 25.00 m.
max. Draft: 8.00 m.
max. air draft: 54.00 m. at zero water level.

 

Kaliningrad port has Kaliningrad seaway canal with length 24 miles (mean time of passage about 3 hours). Traffic of vessels within the seaway canal is regulated by vessel traffic service (VTS). Any movement at the outer road, seaway canal and inside port’s area is only allowed after permission of the VTS. Pilotage in/out is compulsory.

 

The following traffic schedule is set for the Kaliningrad seaway canal:
03:00 – 05:00 a.m. and 03:00 – 05:00 p.m. inbound operations;
09:00 – 11:00 a.m. and 09:00 – 11:00 p.m. outbound operations.

 

When sailing at the port waters/Kaliningrad seaway canal vessel shall not have trim by fore, except if it is a constructive feature of a vessel. Trim by AFT shall not exeed 3.0 m.
All gangways, cargo facilities and life boats shall be in “regular-underway” position when sailing at the port waters/seaway canal.

 

The following mode of navigation of vessels at the port waters/seaway canal is set depending on vessel’s length and meteorological conditions:
Length up to 120 m. – round-the-clock , at wind speed up to 16 m/s;
Length 120 – 135 m. – round-the-clock , loaded at wind speed up to 16 m/s, in ballast up to 13 m/s;
Length 135 – 155 m. – at day light time only, loaded at wind speed up to 13 m/s,  in ballast up to 10 m/s;
Length 155 – 170 m. – at day light time only, loaded at wind speed up to 10 m/s,  in ballast up to 8 m/s.

 

The oil tankers and the ships, with hazardous cargo, length from 120 m. up to 140 m., which has no bowthruster, as well as the oil tankers and the ships with the hazardous cargo whose length exceed 140 m., interspektive of presence a bowthruster, while they are coming to or leaving a berth, they must use the tugboats assistance.

 

Land-bases VHF station, which provide radio communication within port waters/seaway canal keep their watch as following:
VTS Baltiysk: channel - 74, call sign - “Baltiysk Traffic”;
VTS central: channel – 67, call sign – “Kaliningrad Traffic”;
Pilot service: channel – 67, call sign – “Kaliningrad Pilot”.
